In this episode Drs. Joanna & Ilan sit down with Kevin Dea, owner of DEA Strength Training in Narberth, PA. Kevin shares his background experience and what brought him to pursue a career in Strength & Conditioning.

We dive into a wide range of topics including how he incorporates personalized and periodized programs within a group exercise format to provide clients with autonomy in their training. We also discuss the people and philosophies within the realm of training that have influenced his approach to building foundational strength and how his approach has changed as a result of these influences.

Guest Bio:

Kevin Dea is a Strength and Conditioning Coach and owner of DEA Strength Training in Narberth, PA. He holds a multitude of certifications including being a StrongFirst Team Leader, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA, Functional Movement Systems certification, and USA Weightlifting certification.

He began personal training in 2009 before opening his own gym, DEA Strength Training, in 2014 and began working for StrongFirst as a Team Leader in 2018 where he helps to teach courses about proper kettlebell, barbell, and bodyweight training principles.

He works with a wide variety of individuals ranging from the general public (including your hosts!) and youth to professional level athletes.

Outside of lifting heavy things, he enjoys golfing, rooting on Philadelphia sports teams, and introducing us to some fantastic local pubs as a result of his monthly “No Shower Happy Hours”.
